3-wire unit runs power, brake/turn power and ground to allow replacement of the stock amber turn signals with red custom turn signals, for additional run, brake and turn lighting
4-wire unit runs power, brake/turn power and ground to allow replacement of the stock amber turn signals and replace with custom turn signals, providing additional red run, red brake as well as amber (or red) turn lighting
