Snowmobile Accessories: What You’ll Need While You’re on The Trail
Riding a snowmobile is one of the most fun pastimes for snowy weather, but there are some accessories you may want to consider before hitting the trails. Whether you have a Polaris snowmobile, Ski Doo snowmobile, or another brand, you’ll need accessories to keep you going on your ride.
What does every snowmobiler need?
Every snowmobiler is different in their wants and needs, but here are a handful of accessories that we would consider essential:
Snowmobile Accessories:
Heated grips: Many people ask “do heated grips make a difference?” and the answer is "absolutely"! Heated grips are a huge game-changer because they keep your hands warm, so you can continue hitting the throttle. There are heated gloves on the market as well, and we actually recommend both for maximum heat. Check out our heated accessories for more ways to keep you warm.
Covers: Although you obviously wouldn’t use a snowmobile cover while riding it, it’s considered an essential accessory to have. You should cover your snowmobile during transport to the trails while on a trailer, in between rides so it doesn’t get covered in snow on a break, and also when storing your sled when the season is over.
Snowmobile Ice Scratchers: Ice scratchers work to scratch the ice (and frozen dense snow pack) loose and throw it up into the rear suspension, giving the necessary cooling effect for your heat exchangers.
Snowmobile Studs: These are added to the track of a snowmobile to help increase traction and maneuverability. They also work to decrease stopping time and distance. Check out Woodys Studs to put the action in the traction.

Luggage:
Snowmobile Luggage: Luggage, in general, is a great thing to take with you on the trails. Luggage allows you to carry things like an emergency kit, a repair kit, drinks, snacks, your phone, and much more. There are many types of snowmobile luggage you can choose from: saddlebags, tail bag, tank bag, tunnel bag, handlebar bag, and windshield bag.

SOS Emergency radio: A handheld radio is an essential accessory to take with you on the trails, just in case your cellphone does not have service and you need to reach emergency personnel.
Communication system: Using a communication system, like this UClear Motion 6 Communicator, while riding makes it easier to communicate with your riding buddies. Rather than having to yell over the sound of the engine or use your hand signals fast enough to avoid a tree on the trail, you can just speak to your riding group. You can even upgrade to the UClear Motion Infinity Communicator, which provides you with crash detection and contact alerts.
Navigation system: Bringing a GPS-enabled navigation system, like this Voyager GPS Kit, on your adventure will provide you with an active compass, elevation readings, distance, and the ability to record ride data to an SD card. You can upgrade to this Voyager Pro GPS Kit which has an all-color display and is sealed and rated IP67 for anti-dust/water intrusion.
Snowmobile tow strap: A tow strap is always great to have handy just in case you get stuck. This Steadymate Tow Strap has a durable 1" W x 15' L strap, soft loop designed to protect paint and chrome, and has an 835-lb working load limit, which makes this a perfect addition to your safety kits.
