Introducing Motomentum's First Brand Ambassador, Scott Meshey!!

If you follow us on Instagram, you've probably noticed we've been posting quite a bit about Supercross and Motocross rider, Scott Meshey! We recently welcomed Scott as our first Motomentum Brand Ambassador back in April! We had the chance to meet Scott during the Fan Fest at the Indianapolis Supercross race at Lucas Oil Stadium back in March and instantly connected with him and knew he would be a great fit with our team. Despite Scott's busy schedule, we were able to squeeze in an interview, so you all could get to know him a bit better! Let's jump right in!

MM: Who or what influenced you to start riding? Did you or do you currently have someone you look up to in the industry?

Scott: My parents went to Pro Motocross races before I was ever born or even thought of! My older siblings then went to the same races when they were little, and both of my older brothers were riding by the time I was born, so I jumped right into it! Obviously, once I started riding, the love for it hasn’t gone away. What’s funny is that the guys at the top of the 450 class, the same ones that I am on the gate with, are the guys that I look up to. I have so many of the guys’ jerseys who are at the top of their game nowadays.

MM: When did you start riding, and what was your first bike?

Scott: I started riding when I was about 4 years old, and I started riding on a PW50.

MM: When you first started, did you know right away you wanted to go pro, or was it a hobby that grew over time?

Scott: It started off and always has been a love for riding and racing, and my love for it has simply propelled me to be the best that I can possibly be! I have always seen the pros and wanted to be one, and now that I am growing in the pro ranks, I feel more motivated than ever to keep growing!

MM: What bike do you currently ride & what mods have you made (if you don’t mind sharing)?

Scott: I have been racing a 2022 Husqvarna FC250 in Supercross, and will be racing a 2022 Husqvarna FC450 in Motocross! In Supercross, my bike was a full race motor build by JMC Motorsports, equipped with a Yoshimura exhaust, Ohlins suspension, and Race Tech Titanium bolts for most of the bolts that are attached to the chassis itself to name a few. My Motocross bike will have a bit less of a build, similar to my Supercross bike without an intense motor build.

MM: What made you switch from 250 to 450?

Scott: Being quite honest, as a privateer I needed to make a move to allow me to bring in as much income as possible to keep my program running as smoothly as possible for the year. Additionally, I race the guys in the 450 class in outdoors, so I am very comfortable racing with them already and knew that racing rough tracks would help me in the long run, even if I struggled with them sometimes. However, in my first round in 450 at Arlington, I had gotten a great start in the LCQ and was on my way to potentially make a main before another rider collided with me, so I knew I had the ability to make main events with the big dogs!

MM: What are the biggest differences between motocross and supercross?

Scott: You ride and race Motocross your whole life. However, I only started my professional Supercross journey in 2021 where I entered into my first races at Indianapolis in the 250 east division. The risk factor is much higher, and the intensity is much higher as well in Supercross!

MM: Is there anything you or your peers have talked about that you wish was different in the industry? (ie – track elements, gear, equipment, etc.)

Scott: There’s definitely a few things that I think every racer and privateer wishes would be a little different. Encouraging and supporting the individual efforts for closer athlete engagement in the form of behind-the-scenes series, such as my own, “The Privateer Path”, would be a great way to grow value for racers other than just factory guys.

MM: What goals do you have for your racing career? How about post-racing career?

Scott: Obviously, I want to continue growing and give myself a lower number for next year! However, my goals for outdoors include being in points position every time I am on the track and find myself back in top 15 as much as possible, with the full confidence of breaking a top 10 by the end of the season. After racing, I would like to see myself working in the industry and continuing to grow my own small business that I started earlier this year as a dealer for ETS Racing Fuels, potentially growing it into something bigger!

MM: What legacy do you hope to leave behind when you are finished with your racing career?

Scott: Honestly, I want to be known as someone that always took their time to talk to the people who support the sport and love it by coming to watch us race! Without the fans, there is no race. Without inspiring the next generation, the competition isn’t as deep and the sport will not be the same!

We came up with some fun questions to ask too!

MM: Do you have any other hobbies that you enjoy outside of racing?

Scott: Being a full-time master’s degree student, I definitely stay busy when I am not racing, training, in the gym, or working on my bike! However, I try to have some fun playing on my Xbox when I can, and I love the beach for relaxation or going out on a paddleboard.

MM: What is your favorite meal to eat before a race?

Scott: Typically, that is narrowed down to a pasta and chicken meal! Usually not too much variability!

MM: What does your family think about you reaching your goal to ride pro?

Scott: My mom, brothers, and my sister are definitely proud of the progress I have made and are always encouraging me to achieve more since I seem to just keep on getting better!

MM: What does a normal week look like for you with an upcoming race?

Scott: That would be a good mixture of training a day or two during the week depending on recovery, visits to Cry-X Cryotherapy to help speed up the recovery process, lots of bike work, coordinating with my guy Tyler Hughes for new YouTube videos, schoolwork, and my part-time job as a tutor for the college I did my undergraduate work at!

MM: What is your favorite supercross track and favorite motocross track?

Scott: Favorite Motocross track has to be Thunder Valley in Colorado! Place is absolutely incredible, even if I have asthma attacks there! Favorite Supercross track has to be Indianapolis from this year. Had great success there, but just found myself to be very confident there!

MM: Do you have a favorite racing memory?

Scott: Honestly, making my first main event in 450 this year at Indianapolis was such an amazing moment that is very hard to put into words! Lots of emotions from myself and everyone around me.

Thanks so much, Scott, for taking some time for this interview! The Motomentum Team is looking forward to your Motocross season & we hope to be able to attend a few of your races!
